“First, I feel like nutrient-dense meat is one of the most important things I can feed my family, so I am willing to go out of my way to find that.  Second, I trust you.  When I think of you and your animals, it’s a no-brainer.  I know you, so I know you’re doing all the research to find the best way to do things.  I know you are giving your chickens the best care possible.”

When I first learned of the Collins Cluckery (love that name) I thought it was a good idea; raise a few extra chickens, help to defray the costs. But as I learned more about how they raise their chickens – organic feed, free range (ask about their mobile poultry playground, it’s amazing!), and one of the best health care plans in the nation – turns out it is a great idea! They taught me to view my morning eggs in a brand new light. I had never given much thought to how the chickens that provide us eggs were treated. The Collins Cluckery changed that.

It is fascinating to hear about the many things they do to make their chickens healthier and happier, and peradventure God bless, more productive. Sure, we all want our eggs, but the hens deserve some consideration too; after all, no hens, no eggs. The Collins Cluckery is an excellent example of a Proverbs 12:10 farm (A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast).

Did you know that egg production naturally slows down through the winter months? I didn’t (but I do now). They don’t artificially stimulate the hens to keep laying during that time. They allow them that time to rest and recuperate. Doesn’t that make eminent sense? Now, if that’s the kind of farm that you want to do business with, then you have come to the right place.

“I feel like garbage when I eat fast food.  I just won’t eat it any more.  Your food fills me up longer!”   (All right…once again, Nick is one of our kids!  But I put this in here because there is no higher or more important testimonial to me than when our own kids come around to our way of thinking.  Hold fast, moms!  “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old” – or maybe even just 22 – “he will not depart from it.”  Sometimes it seems like all our preaching about  nutrition (and other things) is falling on deaf ears, but eventually it takes root!)

“Buying chickens from you is a pleasure. Supporting you knowing you work hard to care for your chickens is more satisfying than buying them from an industry that could not possibly take the time to do everything that you do.  Watching over them, moving them to make sure they get a good variety of things to eat and have a healthy pasture live on to mention a couple. Being there on processing day helps me to feel connected to my food in a more natural way than just going to the grocery store to buy it. Making this chicken provides wholesome food and knowing what goes into it makes me appreciate it more.
Thank you for your hard work, and for sharing.”

"I can’t say enough good things about the chickens we get from Collins Cluckery, but here are my top five reasons I keep coming back:

  1. I know exactly what goes into these chickens—what they’re fed, how they’re raised, and how well they’re cared for. That peace of mind means a lot.

  2. The flavor is next-level. The meat is incredibly tasty, and even the broth has a richness you just don’t get from store-bought chickens.

  3. I feel good knowing I’m feeding my family something truly healthy. It’s absolutely worth every cent.

  4. My kids are more satisfied and full after a meal with a Collins chicken than anything I’ve brought home from the grocery store.

  5. And best of all, it connects us to our food and our community. One of the most amazing things is that we’ve had the opportunity to help with the butchering process and even learn how to properly break down a chicken. That hands-on experience has been so meaningful—it’s not just buying food, it’s learning, respecting, and being part of the process.

Supporting Collins Cluckery isn’t just about getting great chicken—it’s about investing in something real, and we’re grateful every time we get the chance."
