You know, we call this page “About Us”…but I’ll bet it’s really About You, because we’re just like you.

Early on?  Oh, yeah, just like you.  Sure, we drew the line on a few things, but when the doctor said, “Your baby needs another antibiotic,” we hardly hesitated.  No, we didn’t like it…after all, this was his second round, but it’s hard to buck the system.

Until it isn’t.

Until your baby breaks out head-to-toe after two days of yet another antibiotic.  You never forget the sight of your sweet, helpless baby boy smiling up at you…covered head to toe in that rash.

And smiling.  Twenty-four years later, and that one still gets to me.

Well, what you won’t do for yourself,

you sure will do for your kids.

Things like starting to read labels…“Hey, I can’t even pronounce this stuff! And I’m going to feed this to my baby?”

Slowly, slowly, oh-so-slowly, we started to find another way.  Things like meat raised on a farm, instead of in confinement.  Things like raising our own veggies and canning applesauce to avoid the additives.  Things like drinking raw milk and baking my own bread…

…and ordering our first batch of chicks, so we could raise our own meat!

And asking Grandma Mary to come teach me to butcher chickens a few months later.  (Okay, so maybe that last part isn’t just like you…Some of us are just a little nuttier than others.)
