We raise these birds with loving care, and it shows. From Grandma Mary’s Sunday Fried Chicken to Ina Garten’s famous Roast Chicken to Jen’s Delicious Chicken Salad, there is no end of the ways you can please your family with this choice!
A “whole chicken” also includes the neck, heart and liver.
The chickens range in size from about 3 pounds all the way up to about 6 pounds, so you’ll have your choice of sizes.
The whole pastured chickens are $6.25 per pound. When you check out, you will pre-pay a $20 deposit for each chicken you order, and the balance will be due at pick-up, depending on the weights of your chickens.
After ordering, you will receive instructions for how to get your chicken. You will have two options:
1) Come out to the farm
2) Pick up at a drop-site in Utica at 1 p.m. on Sundays
While our average chicken size is generally around 4 ½ - 5 pounds, most of the chickens remaining are the “outliers,” so we’ve got a couple teeny ones just under 3 pounds and several between 6-7 pounds. Keep that in mind when ordering.
This means if you want two mid-size chickens, you may decide to order one large chicken and split into two meals: Cook once, eat twice!
