Traditional Skills Classes With Jen
Canning with Confidence Series
Saturday, November 14, 2026
10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
On-farm and in-person!
Do you dream of stepping into your pantry and gazing at jars of food, prepared by YOU
of the satisfaction that comes from learning a new old skill?
of KNOWING what’s in your food, because you put it up yourself?
Maybe you’ve got a little experience under your belt. You’re familiar with “water bath canning,” and you’re ready to explore The Pressure Canner!
Because as awesome as it is to have peaches, applesauce, and salsa on your shelves, it’s a little…limited. What if you’re at the market at the end of the day, and there’s a farmer letting a bushel of green beans go for $10? How do you can THOSE safely? And how about pinto beans for a quick batch of refried beans?
Plus, you’re starting to eye the pre-packaged meals at the grocery store with a pretty critical eye. What’s IN this stuff?
So here I am, ready to guide you on to the next levels. Days get nuts, and plans go awry. That trip to town that was supposed to take an hour somehow took four…and the kids are hungry…and fast food is calling.
But wait! YOU have options! You’ve got White Bean Chicken Chili (made with nourishing Cluckery chickens, of course) on your shelves! Or…Beef Carnitas for some quick nachos. Green beans for a speedy side dish!
Oh, the options. Glorious Options!
I can help! We’ll review the basics of the last classes (so don’t worry if you’re a dive-in-headfirst sort of person!), and then we’ll “add a little pressure,” by learning the principles of pressure canning.
We’ll answer questions, remove intimidation, and build skills. Because pressure canning, done properly, IS safe. And it opens doors of food preservation that just add SO MUCH CALM. The roads are icy and you can’t get to the store? The power goes out and you’ve got to do SOMETHING with the food before it spoils? No problem. YOU know how to PRESSURE CAN.
It’s Harvest Time! Join me in my homestead kitchen (Awww…doesn’t that sound cute? It’s just a plain kitchen, I assure you!) as we explore and relearn lost skills…the skills my mom taught me…the skills Grandma Mary taught her…the skills Aunt Mary taught her…
Join me, Jen, as we can, we chat, and I teach. A simple homestead lunch will be provided.
Space is limited, so there are only 8 tickets available.
Kids 10 and under are free, but each child must be accompanied by a paying adult. This event is not geared toward young children (read…may be long and boring for your 2-year-old!), so bear that in mind.
Tickets are non-refundable, but may be transferred to someone else. Obviously, if WE cancel for any reason, we will refund the price of your ticket.
