Smoky Grilled Summertime Chicken

First, I’ve got to give credit for this recipe to a fellow pastured poultry farmer, Austin Kropf of Liberty Ridge Farm in Wisconsin!

Yep…we farmers tend to get one another’s e-mails and poke around on each other’s websites to get ideas…and sometimes, amazing recipes to share. This is a recipe he shared for his chicken legs, so I made a double batch and rubbed it all over a whole chicken, cut up. It was absolutely delicious, and he graciously allowed me to share!

By the way, Austin is a pastor as well as a farmer. I heard someone tease him once that he could claim to raise Pastored Poultry, and I thought that was hilarious and wondered how on earth I, as a pastor’s daughter, could work that into my marketing! But somehow Pastor’s Daughter’s Poultry just loses something in translation…so I guess I’ll leave the Pastoring of Poultry to Austin and just steal his recipe, instead!😁

Smoky Grilled Summertime Chicken

When I grilled this last night, I used a whole chicken, cut up. But if you prefer ALL white meat or ALL dark meat, check out some of our Cluckery options below!

Bone-in, Skin-on Pastured Chicken Breasts (the best way to get WHITE meat with ALL the flavor!)

Boneless, Skinless Pastured Chicken Breasts (my husband’s favorite!)

Leg and Thigh Pastured Chicken Quarters (my favorite!)
